Whisper’s F1 Coverage Shortlisted for Top Award


Whisper has been shortlisted for Best Sports Programme in the 2019 Broadcast Awards, which celebrates the very best in British programming and channels.

Whisper has been nominated twice in the awards, once for its 2018 Formula One coverage produced for Channel 4, and also for The NFL Show, produced for BBC One.

Featuring Steve Jones, David Coulthard and Mark Webber, amongst others, the Channel 4 Formula One show averaged 2.48M viewers per live Race Day broadcast in 2018, with the USA GP Race Day Show attracting the highest audience at 3M viewers.

Whisper is set to produce the Formula One highlight shows for C4 in 2019 with a live broadcast planned for the British Grand Prix in July 2019.

Whisper is the only independent production company to be shortlisted in the Broadcast Awards’ Best Sports Programme category and has been nominated twice for the second year running. Other candidates completing the list are established broadcast channels.

The Broadcast Awards is ‘the most hotly anticipated event in the television industry calendar’ and the awards ‘recognise and reward the UK’s most ground-breaking content, creators and channels’ (www.broadcastawards.co.uk).

The awards will be held in London on 6 February, 2019.
