Whisper will produce W Series, the all-new international single-seater racing championship for female drivers only, which will be broadcast live on Channel 4. Whisper is the host broadcaster for the series and will produce a World Feed, which will be taken by other broadcasters internationally.

Coverage will start on 4 May, with round one taking place at Hockenheim, Germany.

The racing series will feature 18 drivers from 13 different countries, who will compete in identical Formula 3 cars at six different race events.

Drawing on its award-winning Formula One coverage, Whisper will deliver full race coverage, alongside an entertaining build-up and post-race analysis, which will include behind-the-scenes insights from each circuit and expert opinion. The presenter line-up is to be announced shortly.

Whisper CEO Sunil Patel commented: “We’re delighted to be working on the first global female-only motorsport championship. We have extensive experience of capturing the highs, lows and edge-of-your-seat excitement of motorsport and feel very privileged to be the host broadcaster for this exciting new championship. It’s fantastic that such a significant series is being supported by a strong free-to-air channel like Channel 4, which will help promote women’s sport in general and inspire the next generation.”

W Series CEO Catherine Bond-Muir said: “Since we made the decision to partner with Whisper Films they have become vital to the success of this start-up racing series. Live sport, and the task of generating sponsorship and building an audience, depends hugely on a quality TV production. We are confident that W Series will bear all the hallmarks of a Whisper programme: High production values, great storytelling, and first-class entertainment.”
