Whisper creates the Whisper Group
Whisper Films has announced the creation of The Whisper Group, a parent company which will sit across Whisper and its partners, to provide a home for all of Whisper’s, and its associated companies’, developing assets: sport, live events, unscripted, design and brand.
Having recently partnered with motion graphics design agency Chapter 3 Graphics and non-scripted entertainment specialists, East Media, Whisper has evolved since its conception in 2010 and now has over 65 full-time staff.
Over the last 12 months, the story-telling specialists have produced more sport content than ever before, while continuing to diversify into other areas, such as unscripted and live events. Its output has included a series of compelling non-factual documentaries, in both sport and other genres. Tonight, its latest offering, Liam vs Noel: Brothers at Wargoes out on Channel 5 at 10pm.
As part of this growth, Whisper Films has re-branded as Whisper. The sport and live events TV production specialist has introduced a vibrant new look and a progressive logo to reflect its developing ambitions and wider organisational structure.
These exciting developments were marked by Whisper yesterday evening with an event at the BT Tower, which was attended by a raft of industry figures.
Established by BAFTA-winning producer Sunil Patel, TV broadcaster Jake Humphrey and former F1 driver and current F1 commentator David Coulthard, Whisper’s growth over recent years has been significant.
A beneficiary of the Channel 4 Growth Fund in 2015, Whisper broke through the long-standing stronghold within sports broadcasting and won contracts from both sports federations and established broadcasters. Its current sport TV portfolio includes Formula 1, the Rugby World Cup, Women’s Six Nations, SailGP, W Series, Women’s Super League, NFL and The 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. Within its new broader framework, Whisper remains committed to immersive, compelling story-telling through sports broadcasting, live events, and unscripted entertainment.
“We’ve come a long way in the last nine years and I’m really motivated by this exciting new chapter for Whisper” said CEO Sunil Patel. “As we diversify, the new branding feels a far better representation of who, where and what we are today, and also where we are going. The website and logo are far bolder and more dynamic, which reflects the drive and ambition of the team.
“‘Films’ felt restrictive, the opposite of what we are and aim to be, so that’s gone. The new branding provides the language we need to move forwards and reflects our absolute belief that entertainment is everything.
“There is still so much more ahead, the next stage will be very exciting.”

Named Broadcast Best Places to Work for three consecutive years (2017, 2018, 2019), Whisper now has three offices: in London (Whisper), Maidenhead (Whisper West) and Cardiff (Whisper Wales). It is also a partner of Royal Holloway University and mentors and develops young production talent.
